We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Lead Engineer for Information and Communications Technology (m/f/d) for our Data Center Business Unit. This position is based in Stuttgart. As the ICT Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, coordination, implementation, and quality assurance of all Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems within a data centre construction project. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including design consultants, MEP engineers, general contractors, and vendors to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant ICT infrastructure is delivered on time and within budget. 

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Build up and lead a team of ICT engineers
  • Lead the design and specification of ICT systems including structured cabling (fiber and copper), data networks, telecommunications, Wi-Fi, and related IT infrastructure
  • Review and approve shop drawings, design submittals, and RFI responses
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI, ISO/IEC) and data centre design guidelines (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE)
  • Coordinate with electrical and mechanical disciplines to ensure ICT infrastructure requirements are integrated into overall design
  • Oversee ICT implementation throughout all project phases: design, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Lead coordination meetings with stakeholders, including consultants, vendors, and client representatives
  • Supervise installation of structured cabling, racks, patch panels, and active network equipment and ensure correct labelling, testing (e.g., OTDR, Fluke), and certification of all cabling and network infrastructure
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system schematics, rack layouts, cable schedules, and test results
  • Oversee the handover process and support commissioning and integrated system testing (IST) processes

Show your expertise

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, ICT (Information and Communication Technology), Telecommunications or a similar, related field
  • Extensive years' experience in ICT systems design and deployment, with at least 3 years in a data centre construction environment
  • In-depth knowledge of structured cabling systems, networking equipment, and data centre technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards: TIA-942, BICSI, ISO/IEC 11801, ANSI/EIA/TIA-568.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Revit, or BIM tools for design review is advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications preferred: BICSI RCDD, CDCDP, CCNA, CompTIA Network+.
  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities
