With responsibility for leading the Planning & Scheduling function for the Exyte RBU DTC COE, the objective of this position is to ensure the consistent delivery of world-class project outcomes through the effective management of time and performance.
You will be an active and visible champion of the Exyte Way to drive the organisation to a consistent level of excellence for Planning practices and performance, implement strategic initiatives in planning and minimize any variance in schedules from what was originally planned on the DTC project fleet.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Improve the RBU Project Planning & Scheduling strategy to align with wider corporate philosophy, business objectives, Lean management and Last Planner System approaches.
- Adopt the one ERP approach through the implementation of corporate software solutions for resource management (MMS), planning & scheduling (P6), progress reporting (TMS) to streamline project management processes and improve operational efficiency
- Provide hands-on support & oversight with project set-up to ensure processes, systems, tools & effective control are consistently implemented at the earliest possible stage & maintained across the business
- Ensure the implementation of planning across entire project life cycles from estimating initial baseline performance metrics, determining the current status of projects, estimating future potential of projects, identifying any variances and proposing appropriate action to be taken to recover any deviations.
- Support teams in cost & schedule risk analysis through the development and assessment of options under various scenarios to reduce risk and enhance predictability of project returns.
- Provide the foundation for efficient project management and support decision-making through the consistent collection, evaluation and reporting of data related to schedules to measure project progress.
- Enable an Earned Value Management approach to progress measurement and forecasting of project total cost/date of completion
- Continually capture and share benchmark data, best practice and innovation for future projects
- Collaborate closely with corporate, regional area & regional business unit personnel & teams to ensure aligned messaging and approach
- Provide early-stage support to business acquisition teams, including preparation of relevant technical bid planning deliverables
- Provide lead client / statutory Planning & Scheduling liaison & support
- Regional travel to Exyte offices and project sites as well as customer meetings on an as needed and potential short notice basis.
- Provide interface and quality assurance to Project functional groups and contractors regarding the tracking and reporting of schedule performance.
Assist Regional projects with:
- Roll-out of the Exyte and DTC Planning and Scheduling strategies methods and systems
- Onboarding and development of planning and scheduling resources
- Training & development of general project team members in the (appropriate) effective use of softwares and tools
- Preparing Staffing, Engineering and Construction progress and customized reports
- Analysing and highlighting the overall schedule impact of any variance / change order
- Participating in defining work package breakdown, identifying scope of works
- Participating in value engineering and buildability exercises
- Making recommendations and providing advice to project teams on programming issues to better programme duration
- Support in the recruitment of planning and scheduling professionals and building our overall bench
Show your expertise
- 10+ years' experience in the construction industry
- Experience in a medium or large company in an operational role as part of the management team.
- Experience in the construction industry preferably in the DTC sector
- Proven expertise in Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) or EPC environments+
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
- Proven track record of world class project control delivery & software/tools
- Experience of effectively managing customer and stakeholder relationships
- Specific experience in key technical areas such as civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical will be an advantage in fulfilling the responsibilities of the role
- Ability to effectively communicate complex issues to a variety of stakeholders in English
Sound knowledge of
- Expert understanding of maintenance of accurate project schedules. Expert understanding of schedule resource loading, earned-value management (EVM) and levelling, critical path analysis, schedule health checks, change order impact review.
- Has the ability to review and analyse project costs and oversee the production of accurate progress/performance reports.
- Partake in project risk analysis and identify potential mitigation (QSRA)
- Experience in Lean management approach to Planning and Scheduling through LPS roll-out
- Advanced forensic knowledge planning and scheduling experience including in the development of significant and complex TIAs.
- TAKT planning approach.
