Job Summary

The Senior CSA Estimator will review project plans, specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope. Support vendor and subcontractor solicitation, pre-qualification and coordination of pricing. Review subcontractor and vendor bid packages.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
  • Support vendor and subcontractor solicitation, pre-qualification and coordination of pricing.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor bid packages.
  • The Estimator will be responsible for the complete estimating effort for assigned projects, including the following:
    • Organizing the Quantity Survey and Pricing for all material and equipment required
    • Reviewing and confirming the accuracy of the QS and Pricing
    • Developing an estimate of the cost of General Conditions and General requirements
    • Contribute to the preparation of Project Tender Approval documents for Executive and Risk Management review (TERA)
    • Support preparation and Presentation of Project Estimates to Executive and Client management Teams
    • Prepare Work Package Estimate breakdowns in conjunction with the Project team
  • Effectively participate in the project and in team meetings.
  • Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude.
  • Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information & pricing.
  • Support preparation of instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information as required.
  • Perform and/or manages the pricing effort for internal budgets.
  • Prepare conceptual estimates based on minimal information.
  • Review general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, hoisting plans, site logistics and other exhibits as prepared by Operations.
  • Ensure the flow of project information is maintained and documented.
  • Support technical proposal requirements.
  • Review constructability issues with operational staff.
  • Maintain and communicates data on construction and material cost trends affecting project costs.
  • Analyze alternate means and methods to determine the most economical alternative. (Value Engineering)
  • Build effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
  • Actively participate in industry, client and community relations to enhance company image.
  • Participate in the transfer of information on successful projects including the Job Kick-off Meeting.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of work plans.
  • Support Project teams in evaluation and Pricing of change impacts.
  • Mention junior staff members.
  • Institute and develop best estimating standards and technologies, including BIM and Schedule integration
  • Investigate and recommend the best industry standard estimating technology
  • Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 10+ years’ experience in the commercial construction industry and 5+ years of competitive bid experience preferred.
  • 4-year engineering degree (good to have) or relevant field grade construction experience. CPE (Certified Professional Estimator) a plus
  • Highly skilled capabilities in Excel (Mastery of Microsoft Office). Timberline and Sage estimating software.
  • Accurate and detailed oriented with strong leadership skills, good and fair with people, a solid working knowledge of field operations and project management is required.
  • Must be able to relate these skills direct to estimates, constructability and field efficiencies to result in low and competitive bids.
  • This specific position requires a technical knowledge base related to Civil, Structural and Architectural disciplines and construction methods.
