Structural Designer II - Chandler, AZ

Job Summary

The Structural Designer II is responsible for working under the supervision of Senior Engineers and Designers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load-bearing structures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other disciplines and contractors to support the development of design deliverables such as drawings and specifications
  • Develops and coordinates electronic documents for the structural discipline complying with the level of quality required and conforming to the agreed upon schedule and budget
  • Works in Autodesk Building Systems Software environment to develop drafting and detailing skills
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals to understand how design and construction are inter-related
  • Attends construction and design verification walks and submit report of observations
  • Prepares structural engineering calculations and finite element modelling under the supervision of a Senior Engineer
  • Works with the structural project discipline lead to determine intent and content of each structural model or drawing
  • Coordinates structural models and drawings with the other design discipline
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Experience working in an office environment and preferably has experience working on a construction      site
  • Experience working remotely and virtually
  • Experience with structural Finite-Element analysis software such as RAM, STAAD, SAP, ETABS
  • Understands construction drawings/plans and can visualize structural elements in three dimensions
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Building Systems Software
  • Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
  • Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact and diplomacy
  • Understands industry, drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
  • Knowledgeable and productive with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
